Having given up music teaching to bring up my two daughters, I wanted to find some music classes for them in Plymouth. I took them to the nearest 'Music with Mummy' classes to me, in Plymstock, and they both loved the sessions. I soon found myself wanting to use my teaching experience to bring the classes to a wider audience in the Plymouth area and started running classes myself. My sessions are structured, pacey and friendly, employing all the skills I learnt from teaching music in schools.

I came to Music with Mummy after several years as a primary teacher. I play a range of instruments and Music with Mummy gave me the opportunity to combine teaching, working with children and a love of music as well as fitting around my daughter’s school hours. I run Jolly Babies, Music with Mummy and Three Four time including teaching the latter to reception children at Broadclyst Community Primary school.

I run relaxed and friendly classes and love meeting the babies, children and adults and seeing friendships develop.   I never fail to be amazed at the power music has and its effect on babies, young children and the rest of us!

I am regional Co-ordinator for Music with Mummy in Devon and Cornwall and organise training for people who would like to run classes in their area.

I am a qualified early years practitioner who also has a passion for Music! I grew up surrounded by music and singing, and in my childhood I played many instruments – I gave everything a try! Now I concentrate on the piano and am very grateful for my early introduction to music.

I have worked in various early years settings, including a local primary school where I delivered music lessons to the reception class children. And now, I am opening up the world of music and early learning to the very youngest members of our community. Come and join the fun!

After originally qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse and spending 12 years in Veterinary Practice I decided a change was in order.  As a young child I had lessons in singing, violin, clarinet and piano. My Mother was a classical pianist and piano teacher and so I have had the benefit of growing up with and enjoying music in my life from a very early age and this is where my future lay.

I now teach piano to children and have recently started to teach adults.  I believe that music should be fun, open to everyone to ‘have a go’ and that we should all get started as early in life as possible and what better way for babies and young children to start their musical journey than with Music with Mummy classes.

I first came across Jolly Babies when I was looking for a job change whilst going part-time as a primary school teacher. As a parent of young children and an experienced teacher I know how beneficial music is within all aspects of a young babies and child’s development. I offer a relaxed and friendly environment for those who wish to share a special time each week with their child(ren) and my classes are carefully planned and structured to give the babies the best introduction to music and singing. After each class there is a chance for both the babies and adults to socialise with a cold drink and biscuit.

I first came across Jolly Babies when looking for a class to attend with my newborn baby. We loved the classes and still sing his favourite songs together. When I moved to Torquay, I found that Music with Mummy was not yet running in this area and decided to take up the challenge myself. As a parent I firmly believe in the benefits the schemes have to offer. I play a range of musical instruments and have experience of working with children of different ages in local schools. I look forward to introducing babies and carers to music in a fun, friendly environment.
